FR660 – Interesting prestige display cloth woven by a Dioula weaver from central or northern Ivory Coast, with the distinctive feature that sections of the weft have been extended from each edge strip then interlaced to create a tassel effect. This is the only example that I have seen, although a similar technique is just visible at lower left in the photo below by Bohumil Holas, taken around 1950. From the Dioula or perhaps Baule people of Ivory Coast. Dates from around the 1920-50s. Condition: Complete, has some faint marks and stains.
Measurement: 78 inches x 43 ins, 200cm x 110cm
