Description
Exceptional Fante Asafo flag with a highly unusual striped cloth background and a central image depicting two lions flanking a cockerel. Despite the evident artistry and skill apparent in the making of this excellent flag and the idiosyncratic representation of the lions and bird no other flags by this unidentified artist are known to date. The flag is from circa 1920-1950 and is in excellent condition.
From a UK private collection assembled in the 1970s and 80s. Authentic old flags in acceptable condition are now near impossible to source in Ghana and prices have risen accordingly
