Description
Starch resist Yoruba adire eleko cloth with a bold striped pattern. Here the starch paste was applied through a tin stencil (traditionally made from a section of the lining of a tea chest) rather than freehand. If we look carefully we can see slight traces of the edge of the stencil forming lines along the cloth.
Dates from circa 1980 and is in excellent condition.
Measurements 6’5″ x 5’6″, 196 cm x 167.
