Description

Thousands of tiny circles were carefully hand painted with the cassava starch paste, mimicking the effect of the even more time-consuming and laborious tie dye “adire eleso” technique. The striped brocade pattern on the original cotton cloth used adds another layer of texture to the design. Three cloth panels used so wider than usual. There is a neat animal “signature” on the folded hem, allowing the owner and artist to recognise her cloth at the communal dye works.
Dates from circa 1980 and is in excellent condition.

Measurements 6’6″ x 6’3″, 197 cm x 191.
