Description
Spectacular mixed strip Ewe kente chief’s cloth with an exceptional six different warp striped patterns. The carefully planned layout and regular alternation tells us this was a commissioned cloth woven to order for a wealthy customer rather than the more haphazard array of leftover strips that is sometimes found. As is often the case with mixed strip cloths the juxtaposition of colours and stripes is strikingly effective.
Dates from circa 1930-1950 and is in excellent complete condition.
Measurements 9’7″ x 6’1″, 291 cm x 184.
