Four different blue and white cotton strip patterns are combined in this subtly beautiful Bondoukou region woman’s wrapper cloth from the Dioula or Abron people of north eastern Ivory Coast. Local hand spun cotton is combined with imported industrial cotton, with weftbstripes across some strips in bright colours that are muted by the predominant indigo blue warp.Dates from mid C20th. Condition is excellent.
