Description
Mid-weight hand spun cotton strip weave blanket woven by a Bamana or Fulani weaver in southern Mali, circa 1950s, with a simplified version of the classic “munnyuure” desgn. This weft float alternation of small crosses and bars was used on 500 plus years old textile fragments found in the Tellem burial caves and also occurred on blue and white “panos” cloths woven in the Cape Verde archipelago. This soft handle cloth is in very good complete condition.
Measurements: 7′ x 3’9″, 213 cm x 113.
