Description

Really superb example of the chequerboard style of prestige cloths woven by both Fulani and Bamana weavers in the region north of Segou in Mali. Thick hand spun indigo dyed cotton, with just enough fading and wear to be perfect. Lines of blue and white bars break up the borders and the central field and add asymmetry to the design. Would work as a dhurrie type rug in a low traffic spot, or as a throw or hanging. In excellent complete condition.
Measurements 5′ 7″ x 3′ 5″ , 170 cm x 105.
