There’s something calming and contemplative about this restrained style of Ewe kente cloth, no spectacular flourishes, just neat precise weaving and the careful building up of pattern blocks with row by row of colours against the blue and white check cotton ground. This is a fine version of the “guineafowl” pattern, with a good variety of weft motifs. In vey good condition, a few tiny worn dots. Dates from circa 1930-1950.
Measurements 75 inches x 47, 190 cm x 120.
