Description
Very rare style of Asafo flag where the imagery is entirely embroidered rather than being applique with embroidered details. Here the artist has very skilfully depicted a group of chickens, with the upper central bird playing a drum, watched by the company officer at the left. Dates from circa 1930-50s and is in excellent condition. From a UK private collection assembled in the 1970s and 80s. Authentic old flags in acceptable condition are now near impossible to source in Ghana and prices have risen accordingly
