Description
Attractive Ewe kente woman’s cloth with a fairly unusual layout of pattern blocks that creates a diagonal effect along the cloth. A good variety of small neatly woven float motifs on a pleasing striped ground. The sale price reflects a condition issue – some originally black threads in warp stripes have partially perished over the decades. This makes the cloth too weak to be washed or to be suitable for upholstery, although it is fine as a throw. Dates from circa 1930-50s.
