Fine Ewe kente woman’s strip weave cloth from Ghana with one of the less frequently seen designs. On a dark blue and background with a typically asymettric stripe the weaver has carefully positioned the paired pattern blocks so that they form diagonal lines down the cloth, imparting a dynamic, almost spiralling, effect to the complete textile. Simple geometric shapes in the neatly woven pattern blocks reinforce the effect. In very good neat condition. Dates from circa 1930-1950.
Measures 80 inches x 47, 203cm x 120.
