Description
Yellow and green are added to the standard red, white, and black palette on this finely woven “teratera” wedding hanging from the Zarma people of Niger. The carefully planned and intricately woven central pattern square combined with the fresh use of colours makes this the most pleasing example of the type I have seen recently. It retains the original hand stitching throughout and is in excellent condition. Dates from circa 1970s.
