Description
A flock of yellow chickens clusters at the centre of this Ewe kente men’s cloth, framed by pairs of colour blocks. Figurative float motifs like this were time consuming to weave and costly to commission, so we do find examples like this where the patron has adopted to group them at the part of the cloth most visible when it was wrapped around him in use rather than across the entire area of the fabric. A few neat patched repairs, overall in good condition. Dates from circa 1930s.
Measurements 9’4″ x 6’2″, 285 cm x 189.
