Description
Complex variations in the weft stripe colours and configurations distinguish this exceptional Ewe kente chiefs cloth. Within the familiar grid structure the master weaver plays around with variations in the width of stripes and the placement of colours, restraining his palette to red, blue, white and green, with sporadic yellow. Variation is also achieved by plying two colours of thread together, blue with white, red with white and green with white. In Excellent complete condition. Dates from circa 1930-1950.
Measurements 8′ x 5’7″, 244 cm x 170.
