Description
Beautiful soft hand spun indigo striped cotton strip weave chief’s cloth from the Bondoukou region of north eastern Ivory Coast. Yellow and red stripes are carefully aligned across the field of the cloth and their colours muted pleasingly by the blue warps. This quite rare cloth dates from circa 1930-1950. There is one small indigo patch – see detail – otherwise the cloth is in excellent condition. Would make a great upholstery fabric.
Measurements: 9’5″ x 6’1″, 286 cm x 185.
