E932 – Superb early C20th example of a red and white chequerboard style cotton Ewe kente woman’s cloth. This simple graphic style of cloth using a rich red coloured thread was a popular style in the nineteenth century and early C20th, and as on this example usually had a distinct edge strip on the lower edge only. Narrow warp and weft stripes in very dark indigo blue quarter each white square. In excellent complete condition.
