Description

Beautiful and very rare variation of the Fulani blue and white hand spun cotton cloth tradition probably woven in north eastern Ivory Coast in the first half of the C20th. A quite complex central pattern block is set over three rows of the traditional “munnyuure” motif. Remarkably some of the central pattern is woven in white thread on the white ground, something I can’t recall seeing before. There are a couple of tiny marks and spot repairs but otherwise this rare and lovely cloth is in very good complete condition.
Measurements: 6’10” x 4’1″, 209 cm x 125.
