Description
Interesting cotton ground, wide strip (14 cm) kente from Ntonso, once a separate craft village near Kumase but now a suburb of the Asante capital city. Ntonso is best known as the main place where Asante adinkra was made but the area also produced distinctive kente variations including wide strip cloths like this one. Interestingly it was also where the currently fashionable “Obama kente” originated. This piece dates from around the 1970s and is excellent complete condition.
Measurements: 11’6″ x 7’, 324 cm x 214 cm.
