Lens shaped flashes of colour cross the solid green ground strips of this fine Ewe kente cotton woman’s cloth from Ghana. Ewe weavers called this simple but striking pattern “akatsi”, meaning “tears,” while elsewhere in West Africa it was compared to canoes crossing the River Niger. Dates from circa 1930-50 and is in excellent complete condition.

Measurements 6’7″ x 4’8″, 200 cm x 143.
