Description
Fulani strip weave woollen kaasa blanket from Mali, collected in 1970. Creamy white ground with elaborate natural dyed wool motifs. These beautiful cloths were the quintessential designs of the southern fringe of the Sahara and were much sought after across West Africa. As often the case with kaasa it was woven from quite coarse wool. As shown in the photos there are some grey areas from storage. It is possible these might come out with careful hand washing.
Measurements 8′” x 3’10”, 245 cm x 115.
