Description
Collected in the 1970s this Fulani strip weave woollen kaasa blanket from Mali has a slightly simplified design and is woven from rather scratchy wool compared with earlier examples. Nevertheless it is a good complete example of the quintessential designs of the southern fringe of the Sahara that were much sought after across West Africa. In good condition, one small worn spot.
Measures 101 inches x 55, 256 cms x 140.
