Lovely bright and unusually harmonious colour combination on this finely woven Fulani wedding hanging cloth from the 1950s or 1960s. All the very neatly woven patterning is tapestry weave, a technique that in West Africa was particularly associated with Fulani weavers and their historical areas of influence. We can see the old motifs of Fulani wool arkilla cloths translated onto a new stlye of wedding hanging textile with great skill. In excellent complete condition, with original hand stitched seams throughout.
