Description
Three different strip patterns alternate in this exceptionally elaborate woman’s wrapper cloth, the work of a Dioula weaver in north eastern Ivory Coast. Coloured stripes are dotted across the indigo and white handspun cotton background forming chance juxtapositions with the neighbouring strips. Dates from circa 1930-50s and is in very good complete condition, with some very faint water marking.
Measurements 6’7″ x 4’4″, 200cm x 132.
