Description
The weaver of this Yoruba asooke woman’s wrapper wanted it to look like an alternation of two very narrow 2inch/ 5 cm width strips, one of wild silk “sanyan” and white cotton, the other of fine indigo check “etu”, guineafowl. Actually though he has combined the two classic Yoruba prestige textiles on a single strip as we can see looking closely at the detail. This unusual and attractive cloth is in excellent complete condition and retains its original hand stitched hems and seams.
Measurements 6’2″ x 4’8″, 187 cm x 142.
