Calm, muted colours and a classic interplay of solids and stripes on this fine Ewe kente woman’s cloth dating from circa 1930s. Rectangular blocks, each made up of two blended colours of cotton thread framed by narrow red and white stripes, alternate with the typically complex warp striped ground weave decorated by geometric float motifs. In excellent complete condition.
Measurements 6’7″ x 3’9″, 201 cm x 113.
