Strong graphic layout on this distinctive and unusual Ewe kente chief’s cloth with a regular alternation of squares filled with weft float stripes in green and yellow and squares that have more varied geometric extra weft float motifs on the black cotton ground weave. The borders reflect the influence of Asante kente design on some Ewe textiles. Dates from circa 1950 and is in excellent complete condition.
Measurements 130 inches x 79, 330 cm x 201.
