Both the overall palette of yellow, pinks, and duck egg blue that draws the eye to this lovely cloth and the infinity of tiny stripes that emerge on closer viewing lift this fine Ewe chief’s kente to a higher level. Yellow and pale blue stripes in the warp background are echoed in the colours of the weft blocks built up from multiple narrow stripes and in the weft float motifs. among the latter there is an unusual emphasis on tiny finely detailed stripe based patterns. Some careful patched repairs and minor instances of colour run do not detract from a virtuoso weaving achievemnt. Dates from circa 1930s-1950s.
