Vibrant yellow cotton ground Asante kente men’s cloth with silk float weave patterning of diamonds built up from multiple small rectangular “shield” shapes, giving the design it’s name -“a thousand shields.” The border is made up of silk zigzags and stripes. Whilst this was a popular Asante kente pattern the wonderful yellow colour of this piece makes it a very special and unusual cloth. Dates from circa 1920 and is in excellent complete condition, has a few very small rust marks from storage on the back face of the cloth only.
Measurements 114 inches X 76, 291 cm X 93.
