Description

Another antique Yoruba heirloom cloth, this one with a beauty that encompasses wear and handling over many generations and the losses of the fragile silk that followed. I also enjoy the variations in the indigo colours achieved by a mastery of the dye pot. Woven by a female weaver on the upright loom around 1900. White cotton weft stripes add a subtle effect. Retains its original hand stitched seams and hems throughout.
Measurements 5’11” x 3’8″, 181 cm x 112.
