Collected recently in Ghana where there has been an export trade in cloths from Mali for centuries, this beautiful hand spun white and indigo dyed cotton cloth is a rather unusual version of a classic Fulani muunyuure cloth, lacking the bands of indigo weft float patterning that it typically displays. The result is a stunning calm and simple textile, with carefully spaced stripes in a soft faded blue against the thick white ground. In excellent condition. Dates to around mid twentieth century or perhaps earlier.
Measurements 265 cm X 148, 104 inches X 58.
