Description
Beautiful early C20th Ewe kente chief’s cloth with twenty-nine two inch width strips of weft faced cloth forming interlocking diagonals across the cloth. Red, yellow, dark blue, white, and a few light brown squares alternate along the strips, with the weaver adding a few shifts and modifications (notice the two narrow stripes on ta strip close to the centre.) The regularity if further disrupted by a a couple of small repairs. Some slight discolouration from decades of storage adds a patina of age to the white squares.
Measurements 101 inches x 60, 256 cm x 153.
