Interesting variation of a popular style of blue and white Ewe kente – the weaver here using a background pattern of a soft green with narrow blue pinstripes in place of the standard white. A grid built up from carefully aligned groups of three dark indigo blue weft faced blocks frames small and subtle weft float motifs in red, yellow, and white. More dense patterning in red and yellow demarcates borders at the ends of the cloth. Some small patched repairs, otherwise very neat clean condition. Dates from circa 1920.
Measurement: 124 ins x 65, 315 cm x 165.
