Description
The border pattern of coloured triangles between yellow weft float bands is reproduced in a row across the centre of the cloth on this Ewe kente men’s cloth. The background features pink, green, and yellow stripes on a dark blue ground. Although this is an unusual layout, simpler striped cloths like this were more affordable than the elaborate kente that we usually post here, and were typically worn by men with more modest means. Dates from circa 1950 and is in excellent complete condition. It would make a great bedcover.
