E942 – Simple cotton striped Ewe women’s kente, with a subtle effective pattern of dark blue, light blue, red, and white warp stripes. A single narrow yellow stripe along the lower edge. Although undoubtedly once common these kinds of simpler Ewe cloths tended to belong to poorer people and so rarely survive to be collected. Larger than was typical for women’s cloths, perhaps made for a young man. Dates from circa 1930-50s. Condition is excellent.
Measurement: 81 inches x 49, 207 cm x 1125.
