Description
Quite an unusual hand drawn adire eleko starch resist indigo dyed Yoruba woman’s wrapper cloth with a simple repetition of a star motif framed by multiple small circles, a painstaking way of reproducing a design that could have been achieved by the even slower and more laborious method of stitching raffia resist and tie-dyeing. It’s become extremely hard over the past few years to find these beautiful vintage adire cloths in Nigeria. This one dates from around the 1960s or 1970s and has some slight fading but otherwise is in excellent condition.
Measurement: 79 inches x 70 ins, 200 cm x 178cm.
