Description

This extremely rare Yoruba indigo dyed starch resist hand drawn adire eleko cloth was called “elejo” meaning “snake” after the most prominent design feature. It is the only example of this design I can recall collecting and is distinctive within the adire repertoire because of the unusually small amount of dark indigo ground left by the patterning. Dates from circa 1960-70. Condition is excellent, faint rust marks in places. REF: AD299

Measurements: 76 ins x 71, 194cm x 186cm.
