Description
Handspan natural beige and white cotton strip weave on this quite large shawl or wrapper cloth from Sierra Leone. Likely the work of a Mende weaver it is pleasing and now quite rare example of mid C20th “country cloth.” Hand stitched original seams are completely intact and there is a short fringe at each end. Some faint storage marks, otherwise very good condition.
Measurements 6’8″ x 5′, 203 cm x 152.
