Exceptional “SEAPLANE” Asafo flag, a particularly fine work by the prolific and long lived master flagmaker of the Anomabo workshop, Kwamina Amoaku (1895-1985) – See Forni & Ross, Art, Honor, and Ridicule (2017:61-62) for a discussion of this significant figure and the Anomabo workshop with which he was associated. A pilot in uniform replaces the usual depiction of the Asafo company officer. Made for No 6 Company, Anomabo. The absence of the black star on the Ghana flag allows us to date it between 1965 and the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah in February 1966. Some small repairs.
Measurement: 64 inches x 36 ins, 162 cm x 93 cm
