The blue and white check background of this classic style Ewe kente woman’s cloth was called “guineafowl” after the speckled plumage of the bird. Pattern blocks built up from groups of narrow weft stripes are very carefully aligned to create a regular grid layout across the cloth. The precision of the weaving, together with the subdued gr0und, impart a calm refined impression to the complete textile. In excellent complete condition. Dates from circa 1930-1950
Measures 80 inches x 51, 204 cm x 129.
