E958 – Unique variant on the weft faced style of Ewe weaving that was called titriku, meaning ‘thick cloth,’ where the pattern was created solely by changing colours used for the weft to make stripes across the woven strips. Here narrow red and yellow stripes alternate throughout, with clusters of three or four stripes in dark green, dark blue and other colours added at intervals, all framed by wide borders made up of blocks of stripes. Dates from circa 1900-1920. Condition is excellent.
Measurement: 125 inches x 70, 317 cm x 178.
