E1015 – Attractive cotton woman’s kente cloth with predominantly red and yellow stripes across the strips on a dark blue and white striped ground. Unusually dense borders built up of many narrow stripes. Although the patterns are drawn from the repertoire of Asante weaving the use of cotton rather than rayon, as well as the overall design sensibility suggests this was most likely the work of a weaver from the Ewe tradition. Dates from circa 1930-60. Condition is excellent.
Measurement: 78 inches x 42, 198 cm x 108 cm.
