Description

Large Ewe kente men’s cloth with slid blocks of colour in the deep rich red that was particularly appreciated by the Ewe alternate with blocks of a pale cream colour split by a pair of narrow black weft stripes.  This distinctive weft faced style of Ewe cloth was called titriku which just means “thick cloth.” The overall impact of this bold design in motion around the body is dramatic and later versions of this ype of design are still worn at festivals. This piece dates from around 1930-1950. It has some neat repairs but overall is in good condition.

Measures 131 inches x 67, 332 cm x 170 cm.
