Three different levels of pattern combine on this pleasing chief’s kente: a pin striped cotton background in black, red, yellow, and white, paired weft faced blocks in orange, pale green, yellow, and white, and neatly woven extra weft float motifs in orange or white. Overall this is an attractive and well woven cloth in excellent complete condition. It dates from around 1920-40.
