Description
Pink and yellow blocks circle a central section of orange weft float motifs on this Ewe kente men’s cloth from around the 1930s. A weaver would gather enough capital to buy the thread and then weave this type of relatively modest cloth “on spec”, giving the finished piece to his wife to sell in the weekly market, in contrast to more elaborate designs that were only woven to order from a patron. In excellent complete condition.
Measurements 114 inches x 78, 290 cm x 194.
