As indigo dyed adire eleko fell out of fashion in the 1970s and 80s dyers experimented with new and unorthodox variations in the hope of catching the eye of jaded buyers. This cloth is one such innovation, a loosely drawn version of the classic “Olokun” design over a printed fabric decorated with circles and a Yoruba saying that can be translated as “the rich are joyful.” Dates from circa 1980. Condition is excellent. REF: AD301
Measurements: 75 ins x 63, 192cm x 160cm.
