AS602 – Lettering on Yoruba aso oke cloths created using the supplementary weft float technique was fashionable in the 1950s and usually involved a short prayer or proverb. On this unusual example however the weaver has just repeated “OK OK OK” along the strips, alternated with three other strip designs. Dates from circa 1950, retains it’s original hand sewn seems throughout, and is in excellent condition.
