NW530 – Fine example of Nupe women’s weaving from Niger state, Central Nigeria, of a quality that is becoming increasingly hard to source. Each of the two panels had a broad plain area in dark maroon cotton decorated with large blocks of extra weft float patterning, flanked by a varied array of warp stripes. Condition is excellent. Dates from circa 1960s.
