Description
Two panel woman’s wrapper cloth from the Nupe people of central Nigeria, woven by a lady using the upright single headle women’s loom. Rows of brocade patterning set against a mainly wine red and orange warp striped background. Industrail cotton with artificial silk stripes and float patterns. Dates from around 1970 and is in excellent condition. A narrow strip of wax print fabric is sewn along each end.
Measures 79 inches plus fringe x 50, 200 cm plus fringe x 127.
