Description
Quite an unusual Yoruba aso oke woman’s wrapper cloth with paired blocks of magenta weft float stripes framing a smaller float motif in pale green or sandy yellow, in a manner reminiscent of kente cloths. The sections between the pattern blocks are filled with the characteristically Yoruba openwork and floating threads technique. Dates from circa 1950-1960 and is in excellent complete condition. Measurements 74 inches x 47, 189 cm x 120.
